The Role
The Managing Directors at Hanover Research are responsible for leading the business development team in its strategy and execution. Hanover hires smart, creative, and hardworking leaders that thrive in a fast-paced, transparent environment. As a managing director, you will be responsible for a team of directors and associates that are having daily conversations with district leaders helping them to solve today’s challenges around equity, program evaluation, and strategic planning.


As a managing director, you will also serve on the K12 planning team, responsible for new product development, go-to market and business development strategies, and strategic partnerships.


  • Guide associates and directors in their outreach to prospective districts
  • Lead territory management strategy to identify and recruit high-potential districts
  • Liaise with Research and Account Management leaders to shape practice strategy
  • Attract, recruit, and develop talent through motivation, delegation, and constructive feedback
  • Meet quarterly and annual revenue targets by managing the sales pipeline through different stages
  • Provide commercial perspective on new product development and market opportunities
  • Stay apprised of market dynamics and the competitive landscape


  • Experience managing a high-growth sales team to meet quarterly and annual targets
  • Experience in a research, consulting, or technology sales management position
  • Exceptional communication (oral, written) and persuasion skills
  • Demonstrated track record of coaching and mentoring team members
  • Deep understanding of the K12 market, including potential buyers
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% (within reasonable timelines related to Covid-19)
  • High-energy, self-motivated, agile leaders with the ability to think spontaneously and respond quickly
  • Believes in the power of data and research to make informed decisions
  • Ability to drive urgency and decisions with both internal and external stakeholders


  • A Bachelor’s degree demonstrating high achievement from an accredited academic institution.
  • 5+ years in a consultative sales management role with a proven track record of success by consistently exceeding key performance metrics.
