The Role
Hanover Research is actively recruiting for our Summer Research Interns. This is a paid internship and will promote the swift development and refinement of a comprehensive set of data analysis and software development skills. The Research Intern will be responsible for assisting researchers with data collection and analysis, production of reports on a variety of topics for both non-profit and corporate clients, and the development of data analysis tools and software to support these efforts. The Research Intern will report directly to the Internship Coordinators as well as the Survey Research Consultant for Engineering Product Management.   

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Research Project Responsibilities (75%)
Including some but not all:

  • Assist with survey administration through Hanover’s online survey platform and prepare survey data reports
  • Review formatting and data accuracy in key client deliverables
  • Other special research projects as needed
  • Assist with creation and review of datasets or data visualizations in Power BI or related tools
  • Assist with user-facing stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, definitions, design, and testing, for data analysis tools

 
Professional Development (25%)

  • Attend interdepartmental Lunch & Learn sessions
  • Attend regular in-house training sessions, such as Excel workshops, to develop and enhance research and data analysis skills
  • Sit in on team research meetings and transcribe meeting notes and highlight meeting themes

Qualifications

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • High comfort level with Microsoft Office applications, such as MS Excel and MS Word
  • Proven academic achievement
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A strong and demonstrable work ethic
  • Experience with data visualization tools (PowerBI or Tableau) preferred
  • Experience writing for a business / professional audience preferred
  • Experience writing for a technical audience is a plus
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle or coding languages is a plus
  • Strong command of the English language and demonstrated writing skills
  • Strong interest in research and data analysis
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned project from start to finish
  • Ability to work quickly and independently with minimal guidance or oversight
  • Comfort with or experience interacting professionally with others over the phone and/or email
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple short and long-term projects to meet deadlines

Please note that all interns will not necessarily perform all of the above tasks, but that an assortment of projects will be made available to him/her according to their proven research abilities. This position allows the intern to gain more responsibility during their internship period. 

Time commitment per week
40 hours for 10 weeks (June 6th, 2022- 1 – August 12th, 2022)
 
Compensation
$15/hour
 
Education Requirements  
All levels of academic attainment may apply. College seniors and Masters’ students preferred.
