Remote Opportunity

Hanover Research seeks a dedicated researcher to join our dynamic, experienced Secondary and Qualitative research teams with expertise in both qualitative and secondary research methodologies. The Senior Research Associate role will support clients across corporate industries. Qualitative research work will involve the design of interview guides, scheduling and moderation of interviews, analysis, and reporting of results to support our market research efforts. Secondary research will include conducting competitive analyses, product portfolio analyses, and market entry analyses. 

The Senior Research Associate is expected to manage multiple projects at once and should feel comfortable reaching out via phone to prospective experts. This position will allow for the swift development and refinement of a comprehensive set of qualitative and secondary research skills and provide the opportunity to develop a relationship with a young and rapidly growing enterprise. We expect all employees to be intellectually curious, ambitious, and interested in assuming increasing levels of responsibility. This position will report to a Research Director within the team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for: 

 

Responsibilities

  • Conducting secondary research addressing research questions on key topics in business;
  • Collecting data from online sources to enable analysis,
  • Design interview and focus group protocols independently;
  • Identify appropriate contacts for in-depth interviews (IDIs);
  • Conduct and record interviews/focus groups with industry experts or anyone relevant to our research in the industries we serve;
  • Take and compile detailed notes to augment interview/focus group transcripts;
  • Analyze transcripts and thematic coding independently;
  • Managing tight timelines and delivering reports needing few edits,
  • Performing scoping research to evaluate project feasibility, and 
  • Performing other research special projects as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Willingness to tackle complex, often unfamiliar research requests;
  • Ability to synthesize content and develop insight effectively;
  • Experience interacting professionally over the phone or videoconference software;
  • High comfort level speaking with industry experts over the phone;
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Experience writing and researching for a business or professional audience;
  • Strong command of the English language and demonstrated writing and editing skills;
  • Ability to accept feedback and constructive critique positively;
  • Demonstrable problem solving skills;
  • Extremely strong and demonstrable work ethic;
  • Effective presenations skills;
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.

 

 Preferred                

  • Proven ability to conduct secondary research with strong experience in market evaluations, competitive landscape analyses, and sythesizing industry trends.
  • Skilled in leveraging a variety of databases, industry reports, and public and private sources (e.g. SEC filings, economic census data, or Hoovers) to produce actionable insights.
  • Experience in qualitative research and ability to conduct in-person qualitative research is a plus, though the role will primarily require secondary research skills. 

Education Requirement
A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Anthropology, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred, though candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
 
Experience Requirement
2-5 years of business or academic experience conducting secondary and/or qualitative research and writing professionally. Applied market research experience is preferred.

Compensation  

Hanover Research strives to create compensation and benefits programs that are competitive, equitable and fair.  The compensation range for this role at the company is $53,800 - $65,000. Please note that the base salary offered is contingent on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our base pay range is determined by the role and the market.
